The Manchester City striker, who burst onto the English football scene with some electric displays after arriving in January, turned 20 on Monday.
Jesus posted a picture to Instagram to celebrate with his fans, captioned ‘2.0’ and showing the Brazilian holding two fingers up in reference to his new age.
However it wasn’t necessarily his growth out of his teenage years that got people talking, and more the forward’s choice of footwear.
Jesus was sporting a pair of bright orange sandals, one emblazoned with his intials ‘GJ’, the other with his City squad number, 33.
No doubt the personalised sandals are to prevent them from being accidentally taken by a team mate or friend – although quite who would want them is less clear.
As well as the odd sandals, Jesus paid a disregard to fashion not often seen in the modern footballer by pairing them with some socks.
Jesus used his unusual attire to show off his love of music, as the socks are designed in homage to the rapper 2Pac, with his name across the top.
The youngster, who suffered a metatarsal injury in February, looked in good spirits, partly because it’s his birthday, but also perhaps because he could be playing football again this season.
City manager Pep Guardiola hinted Jesus could make a return to first team action soon when he spoke before their weekend trip to Arsenal, which ended 2-2 despite the visitors twice taking the lead through Leroy Sane then Sergio Aguero.
He said: ‘The crutches are gone. He has started to walk and hopefully he can come back to the pitches and start to run.
‘Hopefully he can help us in the last games of the season and come back for us in the pre-season.
