Meghan Markle Asks For ‘Understanding And Respect’ For Her Dad, After He Said He Would Not Come For Her Wedding
In a statement, Kensington Palace said: ‘This is a deeply personal moment for Ms Markle in the days before her wedding. ‘She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr Markle in this difficult situation.’ He had been expected to walk his daughter down the aisle on May 19 but the situation is now unclear.
Mr Markle said he had a heart attack six days ago and checked out of hospital to attend the wedding, but has now changed his mind. He told TMZ he will no longer be travelling to the UK following media reports he staged paparazzi photographs of him getting ready for the wedding.
Kensington Palace did not confirm or deny reports he will not attend the wedding. Mr Markle said he did not want to embarrass his daughter after pictures were published earlier this month in a number of newspapers and news websites showing him in a series of royal wedding related activities, apparently unaware he was being snapped.
He was pictured being measured for what was thought to be his wedding suit, looking at screen pictures of Meghan and Prince Harry while in an internet cafe, and reading a picture book about Britain while having a coffee.
