Diocese of Lagos West Staff Cooperative, Thrift and Credit Society, has acquired a 5.2 acres of land at N130 million, in Ijanikin area of Lagos State, to serve as quarters for clergies after retirement.
Speaking during the hand over of the land’s documents, the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Rt. Rev’d Dr. James Odedeji, lamented that clergy men were usually lonely during retirement, as their children would have established their own families.
But with the acquired land, he said: “ clergies can build houses and live close to themselves.
This will promote a healthy life and reduce loneliness. They can play games, share experience and ideas together. Although the bulk of money we used to purchase these land was borrowed from bank, but we have a good plan of repayment that will not affect both parties.” The Vendor, Mr. Bayo Olofinbiyi said the transaction was made possible because his clients were men of God.
He said: “I have several offers that tempted me to decline their offer but I sold the land to them because they are men of God and they want to use it for godly purpose, which the community will also benefits from .”
