Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to sign Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, according to reports in France. Arsenal held talks with the Ligue 1 club last summer over a potential move for the Ivory Coast international but were unable to agree a fee.
New manager Unai Emery and the club’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, are believed to have revived interest in the 26-year-old but will face competition from a number of leading European clubs.
Manchester United are also said to hold a long-standing interest in the all-action midfielder, while Borussia Dortmund have entered the race in the last few days.
According to RTL, however, Chelsea are currently leading the race to sign one of the hottest midfield talents on the continent, despite the uncertainty that continues to surround their managerial situation.
Antonio Conte remains in the Stamford Bridge hotseat with a move for Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri having hit a major stumbling block.
